Kasich Becomes 16th Republican To Join Presidential Race
July 21, 2015 - Ohio Governor John Kasich,63, officially entered the presidential race with a speech at Ohio State University today. For Kasich , a two term governor, this is not the first time his picture has appeared on John Kasich for president campaign buttons as he made a previous attempt at the White House having run before in 2000.
Prior to being elected Governor of Ohio in 2010 , Kasich served as a United States Congressman from 1983 to 2001.During his time in Congress, Kasich was Chairman of the Budget Committee from 1995 to 2001.
Though Kasich is a twice elected governor of a battle ground state at the moment he is trailing badly in the polls. Currently in an average of national polls he has the support of just 1.5% of those polled , which puts in 11th place. Kasich will have to make ground quickly if he wants to be included in the first Republican Party presidential debate scheduled for August 6th in Cleveland, Ohio.
Its not impossible to think Kasich could to make the debate cut as an increase in as little of 1% might be enough to move him into tenth place and a seat on the debate stage.
