Biden Begins Bid with Big Bounce
April 29 , 2019 - What a difference a week makes. With his long anticipated entry into the 2020 presidential race , former Vice President Joe Biden has vaulted to an undisputed lead in a new poll. As the saying goes the third time is the charm , as Biden finds himself in a just released national poll with support of 39% of those polled. Scoring 39% is quite impressive considering there are some 20 Democratic candidates who have announced a presidential run. In second place is Biden's closest competitor Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont with 16%. Of the crop of 2020 candidates only Biden and Sanders are in double digits.
Coming in third place is Senator Elizabeth Warren at 6%. Polling at 5% each are Senator Kamala Harris of California , South Bend Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg and former Texas Congressman Beto O'Rourke. After this group the only candidates grabbing more than 1% is Senator Cory Booker at 3% and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii at 2%.
Locking down 1% of support each are , Senator Amy Klobuchar , former HUD Secretary Julian Castro , Senator Kristen Gillibrand of New York , former Governor of Colorado John Hickenlooper , Andrew Yang and Washington State Governor John Inslee.
