Cruz Picks Up Perry's Endorsement
January 25, 2016 - With one week to go the Iowa Caucus its time for former Governor Texas Rick Perry for put on a Ted Cruz campaign button as Perry has just endorsed his fellow Texas Cruz for president. No stranger to presidential politics , Perry ran for the Republican nomination in 2012 and in 2015 before dropping out last September. Perry is expected to campaign with Cruz in Iowa on Tuesday.
The Perry endorsement is probably Cruz's biggest endorsement so far of the presidential race and gives him so fuel heading into the last week of Iowa. While the Perry endorsement is good it probably is not going to generate as much excitement as last weeks endorsement of New York Businessman Donald Trump by former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin.
Latest poll out on Iowa shows Trump in the lead with 34% followed by Cruz with 23%. In third place is Senator Marco Rubio of Florida with 12% followed by Dr. Ben Carson with 7%.
Next up is Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky with 6% followed by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush all knotted up at 4% each.
Scoring the support of 2% each are former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee , Ohio Governor John Kasich and former Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania.
In last place in the poll was former CEO Carly Fiorina with 1%.
