Obama Launches New Effort To Support Obamacare
December 4, 2013 - President Barack Obama launched a new public relations effort yesterday to high light the benefits of the Affordable Care Act know popularly as Obamacare. Since the program rolled out in October the web site has been plagued by problems that have prevented people from signing up. Obamacare also sparked further controversy when it was revealed that several million people would not be able to keep their current health care plans as those plans did not meet the minimum standard of coverage required under Obamacare.
Speaking at the White House President Obama said “for too long, few things left working families more vulnerable to the anxieties and insecurities of today’s economy than a broken health care system,” he said. “So we took up the fight because we believe that, in America, nobody should have to worry about going broke just because somebody in their family or they get sick.”
“Now that the website is working for the vast majority of people,” Mr. Obama added, “we need to make sure that folks refocus on what’s at stake here, which is the capacity for you or your families to be able to have the security of decent health insurance at a reasonable cost through choice and competition on this marketplace, and tax credits that you may be eligible for that can save you hundreds of dollars in premium costs every month, potentially.”
President Obama new effort on Obamacare came following a recent effort to repair the glitches that users were experiencing when they were using the web site.
