2024 Biden Trump Rematch Is Not A First Of Its Kind
March 1 , 2024 - While it is just about certain that President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will face off in this November's election again as they did in 2020 , its not the first time that Democratic and Republican presidential candidates had a repeat of a previous election.
In 1956 , President Dwight Eisenhower and former Illinois Governor Adlai Stevenson competed against each other as they had once before in 1952. The results were the same with Eisenhower willing both races. In 1900 President William McKinley faced off again against William Jennings Bryan as he had in 1896. McKinley won both races.
In 1892 President Benjamin Harrison ran again against former President Grover Cleveland. In this rematch Cleveland won back the White House after having lost it to Harrison in 1888. In 1840 William Henry Harrison defeated incumbent President Martin Van Buren. This was a rematch of their 1836 race when Van Buren won the first contest.
Finally in 1828 Andrew Jackson defeated incumbent President John Quincy Adams. This was a rematch of their 1824 race when Adams was the winner.
