Biden Leads Trump & Kennedy in 3 Way Race
October 19 , 2023 - Now that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has decided to run as an independent for the White House , new polling shows how that could possibly affect the November 2024 presidential election. Incumbent President Joe Biden has the support of 44% of those polled followed by former President Donald Trump with 37%.
In a strong 3rd placed showing is Kennedy with 16%. Not since 1992 has a 3rd Party candidate scored in double digits with voters when Ross Perot did it. While it is still to early to see if RFK Jr. will get close to Perot's electoral strength he is off to a promising start. Kennedy is also showing strong campaign fundraising reporting $6.1 million in the bank as of his September 30 filing with the Federal Election Commission.
Asking those polled to pick only between Biden or Trump , the respondents choose Biden by 49% to 46% for Trump. That is similar to earlier in the month when the same polling firm showed 49% for Biden and 47% for Trump.
With the November 2024 presidential election just over a year away , if Kennedy maintains these polling numbers its possible that could get him a seat at any presidential debates. The last time there were three participants in a presidential was also back in 1992 when Bill Clinton , George H.W. Bush and Ross Perot squared off.
