Trump Has Big Lead In Latest GOP Poll
May 12 , 2023 - With summer approaching and the Republican race for the GOP presidential nomination heating up , former President Donald Trump finds himself with a substantial lead against all potential challengers. Trump scores the support of 60% against 19% for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. While DeSantis is not officially in the race he is expected to enter the field in the coming weeks.
At 5% is former Vice President Mike Pence. While Pence keeps up a steady schedule of traveling around the country meeting Republican voters he has yet to formally announce a White House bid. Pence has said that by the end of June he will make a announcement one way or another.
Also with 5% and officially in the race is Vivek Ramaswamy a first time candidate for political office. Ramaswamy is a businessman and entrepreneur.
In 5th place with 3% is former South Carolina Governor and United Nation Ambassador Nikki Haley. As South Carolina is one of the first primary states it will be interesting to see what kind of support that Haley can generate in her home state. At 2% is former Wyoming U.S. Congresswoman Liz Cheney.
Rounding out the field all at 1% each is Texas Governor Greg Abbott , South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem , U.S. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson.
Not mentioned in the poll was announced officially announced presidential candidates radio talk show host Larry Elder and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson.
