August 10, 2018 - Today marks 144th birthday of the 31st President of the United States Herbert Hoover. Born in West Branch , Iowa , Hoover held several posts in the federal government. He served as the Director of The Untied States Food Administration under President Woodrow Wilson. Under Presidents Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge , Hoover served as the Secretary Of Commerce. In 1928 , Hoover would succeed Coolidge when he was elected president of the United States. Hoover would serve one term as president , as he was defeated for re-election in 1932 by Franklin Roosevelt. The Hoover Dam was named in his honor.
