July 3 , 2016 - To those who collect political memorabilia , they will now be on the look out for 2016 Republican Party presidential  nominee Donald J. Trump for president campaign buttons.

In a GOP presidential primary season that saw Trump defeat a record 16 fellow Republicans, you can bet that as Trump's pledged  delegates grew so too did the variety of Trump for president campaign buttons grow.

Trump's now famous campaign slogan "Make America Great Again!" has appeared not only on baseball style hats but on campaign buttons as well. In fact Trump campaign buttons have appeared that show his wearing his now iconic "Make America Great Again!" hat. Other campaign buttons have also referenced Trump's promise to build on the border with Mexico  and his proposals when it comes to trade, jobs and security to make Americans his first priority.

In regards to campaign buttons, Trump is unique from his most recent predecessors from John F. Kennedy to Barack Obama to have never held political office. Unlike Obama who has campaign buttons  for his U.S.Senate runs and Ronald Reagan who has pins from his gubernatorial campaigns , there are no Trump for local office campaign buttons. Trump also holds the distinction  in that unlike President Dwight Eisenhower  he has never held a job in public service.

Known for his career in the private sector as  real estate developer, casino owner and reality t.v. star , Trump is sometimes compared to 1940 Republican Party presidential  nominee Wendell Willkie who had never held an elected position and was also known as successful businessman.

While Trump has turned the presidential process on its head by not using pollsters , having a small staff , funding his own campaign and frequently calling into news programs and being a prolific user of social media his campaign buttons so far have used tradition symbols.

Trump campaign buttons have used patriotic red , white and blue colors and have pictured him in front of the White House. Campaign buttons have also appeared that picture him with the late President Ronald Reagan.

As the Republican National Convention  is fast approaching another wave of Trump campaign buttons can be expected to be produced. When the GOP Convention opens on Monday July 18 , 2016 in Cleveland , Ohio in addition to the Trump for President campaign buttons there will also be a new slew of campaign buttons that will picture Trump and his vice presidential running mate.
