Trump Firmly In Lead In Latest National Poll
September 4, 2015 - As the unofficial end of summer Labor Day weekend arrives New York businessman Donald J. Trump continues to lead the Republican field by a wide margin. In the latest national poll, Trump garners the support of 30%, with his closest competitor Dr. Ben Carson coming in a distant second at 18%. The release of this latest poll comes on the news that Trump has signed a pledge with the Republican National Committee that he will not run as a third party candidate should he not receive the GOP presidential nomination.
The finish of summer could not come probably fast enough for the third place finisher in the poll former Florida Governor Jeb Bush at 8%. Bush is the candidate in the race who during the last two months has been in engaged in on going war of words with Trump. In effort to begin a climb back in the polls , the Bush campaign is planning a major advertisement campaign for mid September.
In other poll numbers Senator Ted Cruz of Texas came in also at 8% followed by Senator Marco Rubio of Florida at 5%. Scoring in the top 10 with 4% former CEO Carly Fiorina is now expected to be on the main stage at the next Republican presidential debate scheduled for September 16 at the Reagan Library in California. Also at 4% is former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker who once regularly placed in the top three of national polls now finds himself in the back of the pack at 3%.
In a three way tie at 2% each are Ohio Governor John Kasich, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky. At 1% is former Texas Governor Rick Perry. The remaining candidates in the race failed to score about 1%.
